After Taking ‘Booster Shot’ on National Television, Biden Cancels Trip to Chicago

Just days after getting the “booster shot” on national television, Joe Biden has canceled a scheduled trip.

According to NBC News, Biden has canceled a trip to Chicago and will now remain in Washington D.C.

“In meetings and calls over the weekend and through today, President Biden has been engaging with members of Congress on the path forward for the Build Back Better Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal,” a White House official said.

“He will now remain at the White House tomorrow to continue working on advancing these two pieces of legislation to create jobs, grow the economy and make investments in families, rather than failed giveaways to the rich and big corporations,” the official added.

On Monday, Biden publicly received a Covid “booster shot” injection.

Then, the White House announced that Biden had canceled his planned trip to Chicago.

The NBC News report tried to claim that “Joe Biden canceled his trip to Chicago this week to stay in Washington to haggle with lawmakers over the administration’s two large legislative priorities, a White House official said Tuesday.”

“The White House official said it was important for Biden to stay behind because of the progress the administration believes is being made on the two packages. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., signaled this week that she was confident that the infrastructure bill would be passed this week, but progressive Democrats have threatened to block the legislation to maximize their leverage over a separate multitrillion-dollar budget package,” NBC News reported.

“Biden spoke Monday with Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. The White House said the three leaders ‘agreed on the need to continue work on advancing the two pieces of legislation that represent the President’s vision.’ The House is expected to vote Thursday on an infrastructure bill, which had originally been scheduled for a vote on Monday,” the report added.

The White House is claiming that Biden is remaining in D.C. to help Democrats pass their massive spending and infrastructure bills.

But a report from Politico earlier this week revealed that some Democratic insiders said that Biden has not been very active in helping them pass the bills on Capitol Hill.

“The president needs to pick up the phone and call people,” Politico reported, adding that a “moderate source close to the talks,” said that the White House has been in “listening mode” for too long.

“I don’t understand why the president isn’t whipping his own historic bill,” a moderate House Democrat told Politico.

“Moderate Democrats expected Biden to start twisting House progressives’ arms during their White House meeting last week. But we’re told by sources in the progressive camp and another senior Democratic aide that the president has neither asked progressives to drop their demand that the reconciliation bill pass in tandem with BIF, nor pressed them to accept a stand-alone vote on BIF this week — at least not yet. This has infuriated moderates,” Politico reported.
