Joy Behar and the ladies on The View went after Melania Trump over the former first lady’s new auction and cryptocurrency ventures. Melania is auctioning off items from her time in the White House with some of the proceeds going to charity.

Joy said about Melania: “She was always good for a laugh, she is auctioning off items from her time in the White House including the white hat she wore when she met French President Macron.”

The bids start at $250,000 causing Joy to call Melania and Donald “grifters,” before adding that the charitable donation will probably amount to “75 cents on the $250,000.”

“I’m wondering if someone has explained to Melania that NFT does not stand for ‘No Freaking Trump,’” Ana Navarro said.

“I think it’s tacky, but I think it’s very much on-brand for the Trumps who are, as you say, grifters who are always trying to bank on their name.”

Cohost Sunny Hostin said:

“It sounds a little bit like an exit plan, if I’m being honest. We know that Donald Trump is in a lot of trouble as the former, disgraced twice-impeached president, and he’s being investigated through the wazoo, as his companies are.

“So he doesn’t have a lot of money, and Melania probably needs money because she hasn’t really done much in terms of a career.

“And so I think it sounds a little bit desperate and like an exit plan. She needs money.”

Yvette Nicole Brown, who was filling in for Whoopi Goldberg said:

“I think this is the dumbest thing she could’ve done, and it’s just on brand,” Brown said. “It’s ‘Grifts R Us’ with the backwards R.”

From The Hill:

Melania Trump is aiming to fetch at least $250,000 by selling items including a white hat and digital and watercolor paintings of herself as part of a “historic auction.”

The former first lady’s office announced Tuesday that Trump would launch the online auction, dubbed the “Head of State Collection.” The mementos up for grabs to the highest bidder include “three important one-of-a-kind signed items” marking the 2018 visit to the White House by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.

The white, broad-brimmed hat being auctioned was created by designer Hervé Pierre to go with the same color Michael Kors suit that Trump sported while welcoming the Macrons.

“Mrs. Trump recognized this important moment for the country, and accordingly, a great deal of consideration went into the planning,” according to a promotional site for the auction.
