According to the airline, a passenger on an American Airlines aircraft to London refused to comply with the federal need to wear a face mask, and the flight was diverted back to Miami.
Miami police were summoned by the airline, and cops assisted in the unintentional deplaning of a lady from an aircraft at Miami International Airport Wednesday evening. According to a representative for the Miami-Dade Police Department, American Airlines workers dealt with the customer on a “administrative” level.
According to an airline official, the lady has been placed on American’s internal no-fly list until the outcome of the inquiry. When customers fail to comply with strict mask regulations meant to limit the spread of COVID-19, airlines have regularly barred them from flying for the length of the epidemic.
According to American Airlines, there were 129 passengers and 14 staff members on board. According to flight monitoring website FlightAware, the Boeing 777 was diverted less than an hour into the transatlantic journey by the pilots themselves.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, airlines recorded over 6,000 cases involving rowdy passengers last year, with 151 occurrences reported in the first two weeks of this year alone. Those who refused to wear masks were the majority of those engaged.
